A list of 10 top superfoods to supercharge your healthy diet. Eating the best nutrient dense foods can boost your energy levels and help you lose weight.

Are you a morning person?

I'm not.

Or, at least, I didn't used to be.

I used to feel like I was dragging myself around all day long. I pressed snooze for about an hour and a half every morning. I constantly felt drowsy. I couldn't sit down during the day because I knew I would get sleepy and want to take a nap right there. In fact, I often dozed off on my breaks at work.

Then, I discovered superfoods.

At the time I had to be up for work at 3:45 AM. Drinking a green smoothie with my top superfoods in it first thing in the morning helped keep me going all day long.

Not only did I have energy for those early mornings, I actually started liking the quiet of the morning while everyone else was still asleep. There's nothing more peaceful than watching the sun rise in the cool morning air. I even started getting up early on my days off!

Now that I work at home, I still get up at 4:00 AM because I want to, and my green smoothie recipe and top superfoods still get me started in the morning and keep me going all day long. I have also found other ways to add some top superfoods into my whole food diet. As many as possible, and in a variety of different ways so I don't get bored.

Superfoods are nutrient dense, natural, whole foods that provide impressive health benefits, such as:

Goji berries are my #1 top superfood. High in protein, antioxidants, vitamins, minerals, phytonutrients, and glyconutrients. It's known as the Happy Berry because it gives you lots of energy and really puts you in a good mood.

Chia seeds replaced flax seeds in my top ten superfoods because they are richer in omega-3 fatty acids and antioxidants, they keep for forever without going rancid, and you don't have to grind them like you do with flax seeds. Also rich in fiber, protein, vitamins, minerals, and calcium.

Chia seeds slow the release of sugar into your blood stream, which helps balance your blood sugar and gives you a sustained energy boost. Great for diabetics and for preventing diabetes!
